The SIRIUS-850 is a vertical machining center with a cross-table design. The Y-axis is equipped with four very wide hand-scraped box guideways, which have been designed for heavy workpieces.

The high-torque oil-cooled HWACHEON spindles (8,000 or 12,000 rpm, 420 Nm, 30 kW) allow for optimum surface finishes with maximum precision even when operated for long periods at high cutting rates.

• Integrated spindle motorsAt Hwacheon, only the most highly trained and experienced employees work on spindle construction. Spindle assembly takes place in climate-controlled clean rooms and all spindles are subjected to extensive long-term tests and checks before they are approved for installation.
• Oil-chilled spindlesHwacheon’s spindle cooling system, whereby oil continuously flows through the spindle bearing as well as the surface of the casing of the integrated motor, lubricates and regulates the temperature of the entire spindle. Sensors in the spindle monitor the temperature, allowing it to be actively regulated. At the same time, increases in temperature are calculated on the control side and compensated for.
• Box guidewaysThe machining center is equipped with four very wide box guideways on the Y-axis. This allows very good absorption of vibrations by the solid cast iron bed and high table loadings of up to 4 tonnes.
• Air floating systemIn order to minimize the break loose torque and the stick-slip effect, the gap in the box guideways is charged with compressed air. This ensures the optimal distribution of the guideway oil and particularly smooth movement over small distances and during oscillatory movements.
• Optimal stability for heavy workpieces and cutting tasksFor twenty years, the SIRIUS-850 has been in demand for its stability and performance. Amongst discerning users, it stands for reliability and precision. The box guideways guarantee the best surface finish, long tool life, and the absorption of vibrations. Through the use of compressed air on the bearing face of the box guideways, incomparably fluid and gentle movements are possible, even with heavy workpieces. This is reflected in the accuracy of the contours and the surface finish. The easily accessed and observable working space makes work easier. The ease of crane loading, the complete housing of the working space, and the extensive Hwacheon software features make the SIRIUS-1050 a very productive and ergonomic machining centre.
